Browser analytics preferences

You can exclude this browser from our usage analytics. This preference is saved in a first-party cookie for one year and applies to that browser only. Clearing cookies, using private browsing, or switching browsers requires setting the preference again. Local development browsing is excluded from browser analytics.

Business email link analytics

Future business emails may contain a randomly assigned link associated privately with the intended recipient and campaign. We count link requests and anonymous browser sessions reaching the site, separate known automated requests, and retain these records for up to 90 days. Forwarded links and automated security checks can affect counts; they do not prove an individual read the email or visited. We do not use email-opening pixels. Our browser exclusion setting, Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control also apply to this measurement. Email addresses are not embedded in these links or exposed publicly.

About this policy

GTA K-Biz Map helps people find businesses and community services in the Greater Toronto Area, Canada. This policy explains how information is handled when you browse the site, use location features, or submit a listing request.

Published business contact information

The directory contains business names, addresses, phone numbers and website links obtained from public sources and submitted corrections. This may include professional contact information for individuals. We retain source and check-date records separately. Contact us to request a correction or removal of information associated with you or your business.

Information stored on your device

Your saved places, saved local news and selected area are stored in your browser. You can remove a saved place by selecting its heart again, or clear saved settings through your browser’s site-data controls. Saved places are not automatically shared across devices or browsers.

Your location

We use your location when you grant permission through your browser, to calculate distances and display the map. Our own usage analytics do not record your precise coordinates. Google may process information about the map area you view. You can withdraw location permission in your browser settings.

Usage analytics

When analytics are enabled, we collect page visits, device categories, broad referral categories, and counts of actions such as searching, filtering, saving places, opening details, and selecting external links. Events may include the identifier of the business involved. A randomly generated browser-session identifier helps distinguish visits.

Our own analytics do not record your search text, precise location, or IP address. Search text is sent to our server to process your search and may appear in hosting-provider access logs. Our visitor analytics records are configured for retention of up to 90 days. Separate cumulative business-click totals, without visitor identifiers, are retained to rank listings; equal totals are ordered by business name. We do not send our own analytics events when your browser signals Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control.

Security and abuse prevention

We use a random, essential browser cookie lasting up to 24 hours and the client IP address supplied by our trusted hosting proxy to limit excessive requests and repeated map loads. This identifies a browser, not a physical device. The shared limiter stores hashed identifiers and counters for up to one hour. Aggregate hourly map-admission counts are retained for up to 90 days for cost monitoring. Security decisions and failures may also appear in hosting-provider logs. These security measures are separate from usage analytics.

Listing and correction requests

We use the business name, category, address, contact details, description, and reply email you submit to review and process your request. Your reply email is used to manage the request and is not automatically displayed in the public directory. Optional realtor public email and KakaoTalk ID fields are separate and may be displayed in the realtor detail after administrator approval. Approved business information may be published.

Request records expire or are cleaned up on a 90-day basis after submission. Published business information is maintained separately for the directory. You may decline to provide required information or consent, but we will then be unable to accept your online request.

Local news submissions

We collect the news content, official source link, event dates and conditions, business association and contact email you submit. Approved news content may be published. Contact emails and internal review notes are not public and are used for review and follow-up; submissions do not automatically subscribe you to marketing emails. News records and review history are maintained for correction and source review. Contact us to request correction or deletion of your personal contact information.

Third-party services and processing outside Canada

Loading Google Maps may send Google your IP address, device information, and service-use information, and may involve Google cookies or similar technologies. See Google’s Privacy Policy.

Nearby road labels use OpenStreetMap data supplied through an Overpass service. Our server sends the coordinates of the requested map area to that service. Hosting and storage providers may process connection and request information to operate and secure the service. Depending on their infrastructure and configuration, information may be processed or stored outside Canada and may be subject to the laws of those jurisdictions.

When you follow a link to Google Maps, a business website, or another external service, that service’s privacy policy applies.

Your choices and privacy requests

You may contact us to request access to or correction of personal information associated with your listing request, ask about deletion, withdraw consent, or raise a privacy concern. We may need to verify your identity before responding. Requests are handled subject to applicable requirements; withdrawing consent may affect our ability to process a pending request.

For privacy questions or requests, contact the GTA K-Biz Map operator at raes.comfortliving@gmail.com. Please do not send sensitive identity documents in your initial email.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the service changes. The date above identifies the latest revision. Material changes will be communicated on the site.
